5454 aluminium alloy is an alloy in the wrought aluminium-magnesium family (5000 or 5xxx series). It is closely related to 5154 aluminium alloy. As an aluminium-magnesium alloy, it combines moderate-to-high strength with excellent weldability. Like 5154, 5454 aluminium is commonly used in welded structures such as pressure vessels and ships. As a wrought alloy, it can be formed by rolling, extrusion, and forging (although forging is not common), but not casting. It can be cold worked to produce tempers with a higher strength but a lower ductility. It is generally not clad.
Alloy | Temper | Thickness (mm) | Width (mm) | Length (mm) | Remark |
5454 | O, H111, H112, H32, H34, H36, H38 | 0.5-240 | 500-2650 | 1000-11800 | PVC or Paper Interleaved |
The 5454 grade aluminum was developed for use in the manufacture of aluminum sheets into tank/dry bulk trailers and dump bodies. Qualities include high strength, excellent weldability, formability, and corrosion resistance. Typical applications includes:
● Pressure vessels
● Boilers
● Road transport bodies
● Welded Structures
● Aluminum Fuel tankers
● Dump bodies
