Aluminum 5083 is a medium strength magnesium-manganese -chromium-aluminum alloy, the 5000 series grades of aluminum are non heat-treatable alloys. Aluminum 5083 is known for exceptional performance in extreme environment. Aluminum 5083 is highly resistant to attack by both seawater and industrial chemical environment. The temper is achieved by the plate being fully annealed and then rolled to the required temper, rather than being heat treated. It has the highest strength of the non-heat treatable alloys but is not recommended for use in temperatures in excess of 65 degree.
Alloy | Temper | Thickness (mm) | Width (mm) | Length (mm) | Remark |
5083 5086 | O, H111, H112, H22, H32, H34, H36, H38, H116, H321 | 0.5-240 | 500-2650 | 1000-11800 | PVC or Paper Interleaved |
Typical Applications require a weldable alloy of high to moderate strength, with good corrosion resistance. Such as,
● LNG ship construction
● Pressure vessels
● Vehicle bodies
● Dump truck bodies
● Storage tanks
● Welded structures (high strength)
● Armor plate
● Drilling rigs
● TV Towers
